Atlanta Film Critics Circle 2019 Winners: Parasite Dominates as the “Best Film” Winner

Serving as one of the very first critic and media organizations to publish their results nationwide, the Atlanta Film Critics Circle, consisting of twenty-six members from Atlanta-based publications and newspapers, including myself, has officially released their 2019 winners in fifteen different categories, including Best Director and the Top 10 Films of the year. An already strong contender this awards season, the Korean international film Parasite from director Bong Joon-Ho, has nabbed multiple key awards including the Best Film of the Year, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best International Film. However, our group didn’t snub the many other excellent films released this year. The Irishman took home the Best Ensemble award as well as the runner-up title for the Best Film of the Year, showing Atlanta’s film critics were simply enamored with Scorsese’s massive mobster epic that released on Netflix a few weeks ago.
