Best of 2018 in Film, Gaming, & Literature

2018 was one of the best years in entertainment in history. Featuring multiple critically acclaimed blockbuster releases in all three mediums, film, gaming, and literature, there seems to have been no shortage of what this year could entail. And HBB Reviews was fortunate enough to be able to document and cover such a fantastic year. Below is the Best of 2018 represented across the three primary mediums: film, gaming, and literature.

Film:

FIRST MAN - Score: 9.3 out of 10 (Review Here)

"...a bold, innovative work from director Damien Chazelle that has the courage to be quiet in the face of such a loudly monumental topic, even if the film sometimes feels hollow in its meaty length."

A QUIET PLACE - Score: 9.1 out of 10 (Review Unavailable)

"...scarily tense and riveting from the very start, A Quiet Place is a lavish and refreshing work that the industry so desperately needs right now."

Gaming:

RED DEAD REDEMPTION II - Score: 9.6 out of 10 (Review Here)

"...iconic developing of an engaging, riveting story, deliberate gameplay, and an open-world that seeps throughout the experience."

GOD OF WAR (2018) - Score: 9.6 out of 10

"...Stirring and haunting, God of War maintains its deep, undercutting emotional resonance alongside a bold new take on a tired gameplay system."

Literature:

THE FALL OF GONDOLIN - Score: 9.6 out of 10 (Review Here)

"...a deep, moving, and powerful work of literacy that celebrates everything that Tolkien created in his expansive, imaginative world and creates a fitting legacy for the best fantasy author of all time."

GRENADE - Score: 7.6 out of 10 (Review Here)

"...an enjoyable read thanks to a roster of likable characters and a quickened pace, but shows wear due to an abundant formula present in every of Gratz’s book before it."
