Established as one of the most anticipated films even before its first trailer debut, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a monumental release for fans in more ways than one. Firstly, J.J. Abrams' film must win back the firm trust and support from a community still divided over 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson who also returns this year with Knives Out, a whodunit that "crackles with a near maniacal energy in its whimsical nature, coated by a devilishly entertaining narrative" as we noted in our review. Secondly, The Rise of Skywalker is intended to cap "The Skywalker Saga" which spans the prequel and original trilogy helmed by George Lucas as well as the new trilogy. Such expectations for this final installment in the new trilogy will need to be met mostly by the very quality of the film.

A key method that many fans will utilize to determine the quality is the review embargo, an official date set by the studio or distributor for when media outlets are allowed to publish their official reviews on a particular film. Fortunately, thanks to press screening invitations now being sent to press outlets nationwide including the very one you are reading right now, we have an official confirmation on when the review embargo for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will lift.

According to information supplied by the PR department at Disney and Lucasfilm, the review embargo will release on Wednesday, December 18th at 3:01am EST or 12:01am PST. While this shouldn't signal any immediate red flags among fans as previous installments in this trilogy had similar review embargoes in terms of the day, it's still a little strange for a review embargo to be lifted at such a time. Regardless, our review for the film will be published right when the embargo lifts, so be sure to follow us on our social media accounts to be the first to see our thoughts on the film.

Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams join forces once again to take viewers on an epic journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the riveting conclusion of the seminal Skywalker saga, where new legends will be born and the final battle for freedom is yet to come.
